CoMA AllComers Music Summer School Saturday 3rd - Friday 9th August.
The Summer School features a dedicated allcomers string course covering works from the baroque and enlightenment through to the 21st century. Pieces include JS Bach’s Art of Fugue, Philip Glass' 'Company' and Mahler's orchestral arrangement of Beethoven String Quartet Opus 95. Tutors Stuart Hazelton (viola), Robin Michael (cello) and Darragh Morgan (violin).
The CoMA Allcomers Music Summer School also offers individual tuition, workshops and performance opportunities in music theatre, composition, early and contemporary vocal and choral music and 21st century orchestral and piano works. The guest ensemble-in-residence for the week will be the Fidelio Trio.
Concerts include Kodaly cello sonata, a Finnissy violin sonata written for Darragh Morgan and Mary Dullea and a performance of the Ravel piano trio by the Fidelio trio.

Courses are built around mixed ability ensembles that cater for musicians of varying experience, be they adult learners or those returning to playing an instrument after a gap of several years as well as players with considerable experience.
By working together in such groups allcomers ensembles achieve performances full of vitality and at the same time enhance the skills and confidence of all those taklng part. There are a limited number of places on all the courses listed on this site; cellists in particular are advised to apply early.
Courses are characterised by a variety of music covering all periods of orchestral and chamber classical music, including modern and contemporary works. Non-classical genres and traditions also feature, such as balkan jazz and the music of Piazzolla.
AllcomersMusic works with distinguished musicians who, as well as being inspirational tutors, command successful professional careers. All provide a supportive, friendly and encouraging environment conducive to learning, building confidence and making real progress as a musician.
